As you are aware, Constitution Day, also known as the Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated in India on the 26th of November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. Celebrating Constitution Day reinforces the importance of democracy, liberty, equality, and justice-core values enshrined in the Constitution. It’s a reminder of the democratic principles that govern the nation. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the journey of the nation since the adoption of the Constitution and to reaffirm its commitment to uphold its values and work towards a better society.
Every year, a number of activities aimed at highlighting and reiterating the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution are organized as part of the celebration. In this year’s celebration Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are encouraged to undertake a range of activities that are designed to promote awareness and appreciation of these foundational ideals which may include the following:
- Organize a reading of the Preamble to imbibe the values.
- Organize talks/seminar/webinar emphasizing the importance of Constitution Day
- Conduct a Quiz completion on the Constitution d. Conduct an essay writing competition
- Organize a Painting/Poster making competition.
- Depute ten speakers to local Colleges to sensitize the Colleges about the celebration of the Constitution Day.
